Comfort Quilts - Seattle -- Uzbekistan
Orca Elementary School has joined the Comfort Quilt Project. This school is located in Seattle, Washington, USA. Two teachers, Donte Felder and Katherine Law, are working with their students on the project. They learned about the project as teacher participants in a Friendship through Education/iEARN Teacher Professional Development Project "Connecting Classroom Communities in the World (C3 World). This project is a pilot demonstration of how teachers can integrate international educati on into classroom curricula to help students meet learning goals and build better understandings of their world.
These two teachers have their students working on this project to develop students' understandings of their world today, especially in collaboration with students in Uzbekistan and Iran. Their goal is to have their students learn with global peers through real world connections with schools and communities worldwide as they work on their writing, reading, communication, visual arts, s ocial studies, and service learning using technology of email, websites, digital images and video. Their work with the Comfort Quilt project will be posted in this discussion.
