  • recent visit in Afghanistan:
There is a great need for rebuilding the education system in Afghanistan. Many of young children in Afghanistan do not have the means to enable them to attend school. One of the sad stories I encountered during my stay in Afghanistan was a nine-year-old boy whose father had been killed in the war. He is now forced to sell plastic bags in the market to support his family (mother and younger siblings). He had just finished first grade in Jalalabad when his father got killed. He told me that he loves to be able to go to school, but he is the provider for the family.

We must be willing to do anything possible to help children like this boy. Our objective is to provide educational opportunities and encourage the positive path of learning leading these children off the streets to prevent his future affiliation with undesirable groups. Chances are that children like him will become our future problems if not provided with adequate assistance to sustain a better life.
